In this second of my three part podcast series on persuasion for lawyers, I talk about the importance of the connection element when it comes to persuasion.
Persuasion does not happen inside a vacuum. Rather, it happens within the context of a relationship. Whether or not you are aware of it, there is always an element of relationship, which means that if you can tune in to the person aspects of your audience or your target, your efforts at persuasion are going to be a lot more effective.
Understanding how the other party ticks means you can tailor your efforts towards them specifically, rather than using a generic approach.
There is, after all, no “one size fits all” model for persuasion. It is subtle, it is nuanced, and the more you can know about the nature of the other person, the better off you are going to be.
